WhatsApp on its official blog had stated in February 2016 “As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use. So, by the end of 2016, we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on the following mobile platforms” WhatsApp is about to end support for few devices by the end of 2016. These are the mobile platforms that will no longer support WhatsApp Messenger:
BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 Nokia S40 Nokia Symbian S60 Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 Windows Phone 7 iPhone 3GS/iOS 6
Well, the reason why we are renewing this story is that the company has extended the date to end support until June 2017. WhatsApp had updated the blog post and wrote: “WhatsApp is extending support for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 until June 30, 2017.” That means BlackBerry OS, Blackberry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S6 will still support WhatsApp until June 30, 2017. WhatsApp on its official blog mentioned that these devices “have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.” So, if you are using the smartphone listed above, then it is recommended to upgrade to the latest smartphone if you want to enjoy WhatsApp’s upcoming features in the future.
